Your Neighbor in Real Estate: And the Oscar Goes to........., My Super Bowl Sunday is Today!

And the Oscar Goes to........., My Super Bowl Sunday is Today!

I love the movies. I love all facets of Cinematography, from the grips to the Directors, from the stunt men and women to the actors, from the voice technicians to award winning musical scores. And from the glitz and glamour of the red carpet to joys of acceptance speeches.Film Reel

I must admit, I am not of fan of overlong acceptance speeches.  Of course the winning recipient will want to thank everyone, but unless it is a unique thank you, these are often too long and boring.

This infatuation with all things cinemagraphic had its beginnings in the 1950’s when my mother gave my sister and I money for the movies and candy. In those days, you could send youngsters by themselves to the “show.”  Those were the days of  RKO and Loews theaters, of double features, of Abbott and Costello and of the red curtain that drew back when the “show” started. Several cartoons were always shown before the main attraction, and a double feature guaranteed a long, free afternoon for parents.

And today is the super bowl for the movie industry! Last year was the first time I saw every movie that was up for serious consideration. This year, I’ve seen all but one.

Here is Moviefone’s Ballot

I will also be trying something out for the very first time. Don’t laugh, but I will be following the On The Red Carpet on Twitter. #OTRC    This will be fun and weird too!

OK... don’t know what I am doing. That is why I picked today to learn. I anyone wants to tweet me     @SandyAcesHomes.... I think!!

Hi Sandy I couldnt resist the comment on this one and how true your statement about as kids we could go to movies all day, safe fun and didnt break the bank! Today I took my kids to a movie and for 3 tickets and 2 icees $48!?!?!? Thats insane and leaving them alone all day NOT going to happen in this environment either. Times have certainly changed

Did you enjoy the evening? I watched the Red Carpet, then taped the actual show so I could fast forward all the boring acceptance speeches. LOL

Yes, I did, but hadn't seen "The Artist." And I also forwarded past the acceptances. That guy that imitated Angelina was funny!

Sandy,

I'm a movie fan too from way back, when candy was a ,and my parents got a day off from kids. We were safe, the movies were fun and entertaining, nobody had worries about how much it cost, and people had fun.

I just saw The Artist and I must say, it reminded me of our business in Real Estate. If you don't stay current with technology, your business will be gone.

I agree with you, the acceptance speeches are s-n-o-r-i-n-g-l-y BORING! It's even worse when they have to wrap it up because you know someone has some digital clock winding down the minutes and they have to finish up abruptly. There has got to be a better way!

Sandy, it's a big deal for me too. I LOVE the Oscars. Obviously, it's over and done by now - I always drink a glass of champagne, have a nice dinner and settle in to watch the show. :)

I enjoy the awards shows too, but I prefer to record them so I can zip through those long speeches.
