Earthquake Swarms

Shaking house in LaVerneI must be losing my sensitivity to earthquakes, no I don't think so.

So unknown to me, around 4:30 and 5:00 AM this morning there were approximately nine small quakes. Most of them were rated under 2.0 magnitude.

The first one was a 3.7-magnitude shaker centered a mile from La Verne. According to the USGS, the epicenter was a mile from San Dimas, California, two miles from Pomona and three miles from Diamond Bar. It was followed by a temblor measuring 3.8.

It is again time to get Prepared!

Here is what you need, according to the U.S. Geological Survey

  • Adequate supplies of medications that you or family members are taking

  • Portable radio with extra batteries
  • Water for each family member for at least two weeks (allow at least 1 gallon per person per day) and purification tablets or chlorine bleach to purify drinking water from other sources
