Ventura County Has a New Alert System

Girl with megaphoneVentura County Has a New Alert System

Ventura County has replaced their  “reverse 911” system that was used to notify communities of situations of concern. That old system has been replaced by VC Alert.

VC Alert is now the primary emegency notification system that may be used to deliver alerts when there is a threat to the health and safety of residents. And all residents are urged to register.

The system also allows users to choose their desired location to receive emergency alerts, such as the home, work place, or school. Registered users also have the opportunity to receive messages about community events, crime alerts, road closures and public meetings.

Messages may be sent to all standard voice and text communication devices. Users also get to determine the means by which alerts are received, such as by cell phone, home phone, email, text messages, or other.

To register online, go to:vcalert.org

For those who don't have access to a computer, residents can register by calling (805) 648-9283, or, mail in your name, phone number, address, and email (if available) to: Ventura County Sheriff’s OES, 800 South Victoria Avenue #3450, Ventura, California 93009.

There’s no cost to register in the VC Alert database and the service is free. Keep in mind that if residents register using a cell phone, call and text messaging charges may apply.

These are the cities that are participating: City of Camarillo, City of Fillmore, City of Moorpark, City of Ojai, City of Oxnard, City of Port
Hueneme, City of Santa Paula, City of Thousand Oaks, City of Ventura, and the unincorporated areas of Ventura County

Register today, and stay informed with the community.
